Description:

An elegant and refined small shade or accent tree with attractive compound leaves, showy, wisteria like panicles of pink flowers in spring followed by black seed pods that look like a string of beads; ideal for home landscapes; adaptable to soil types

Ornamental Features

Eve's Necklace is bathed in stunning panicles of lightly-scented white bell-shaped flowers with pink overtones hanging below the branches from late spring to early summer. The fruits are showy black pods carried in abundance in late summer. The fruit can be messy if allowed to drop on the lawn or walkways, and may require occasional clean-up. It has dark green deciduous foliage. The glossy pointy pinnately compound leaves turn yellow in fall.

Landscape Attributes

Eve's Necklace is a deciduous tree with a more or less rounded form. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other landscape plants with less refined foliage.

This tree will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. Gardeners should be aware of the following characteristic(s) that may warrant special consideration;

  • Messy

Eve's Necklace is recommended for the following landscape applications;

  • Shade

Planting & Growing

Eve's Necklace will grow to be about 35 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 20 feet. It has a high canopy with a typical clearance of 5 feet from the ground, and should not be planted underneath power lines. It grows at a fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 70 years or more.

This tree does best in full sun to partial shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do just fine under average home landscape conditions. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This species is native to parts of North America.
